Preschools
We are currently associated with six preschools that serve over 300 Children they are:Blessed to Bless Preschool, GOD’s Children Preschool, Mama Elaina Preschool, Mary Christie Preschool, Mercy Preschool, and Shibuli Satellite Preschool. At home the children speak their birth language Luhya. While at preschool they begin to learn two other languages:Swahili – Kenya’s common language, and English – Kenya’s business languageo Preschool is free to the children, LWFK provides lunch for them. For some of them that is the only meal they get that day.
Blessed to Bless Academy
- The Academy is a grade 1-8 Elementary/Junior High facility that we started in 2013. It was completed in 2018.
- In Kenya, school at this level is “Free” to those that can afford to pay for the books, uniforms, school supplies and lunches, etc. The public school classes are very large and teaching supplies extremely limited.
- We were finding children as old as 9 that were attending our preschools for the free meal, their families could not afford to pay the required costs of public school.
- It was our goal to provide a good education at an affordable cost, and to provide sponsors for those children whose families could not pay.
- Out of 200+ children that now attend Blessed to Bless Academy, we have sponsors that cover the cost of 55 of the neediest.
- Sponsorship currently costs $270 per year. That cost includes two sets of uniforms, two pair of shoes, one meal a day, school books and supplies, and the education.
- Blessed to Bless Academy is very highly rated and ranks well regionally.
- High School in Kenya is not free. All graduating students must pass a national exam. The government rewards those that pass with high scores by paying half the cost of High School.
- Because of their high scores on the National Exam. Most of Blessed to Bless Academy’s 2018 graduates received government scholarships.
Adult Programs
Widow’s Groups
- Widows in Kenya have a rough life.
- We provide them both with a social link and with a means to raise food for themselves.
- There are currently 65 widows in our program.
- One of our primary activities for them is the provision of seed and fertilizer for them to raise maize (corn) for their own need and to sell. Ten percent of their harvest is to be returned to the program where it is used to feed the school children.
Sewing Centers (Adult Sewing Classes)
Here women learn the skill of Tailoring.
- While learning, these ladies earn a little while making school uniforms.
- Eventually we hope to award sewing machines and start-up materials (a value of $200) to each graduating student
Adult Literacy, and Bible Study Classes
- This is our newest program; it is exciting to see eager adults that believe in themselves and are seriously learning. They are working together to help each other.
- The church where they meet is in an extremely rural and impoverished area.
- For those that need reading glasses we have been able to get glasses for less than $10 a pair.
Adult Seminars and Meetings
Bible Seminars used to only be available to Women
- In recent years men have joined Eleanor’s Bible Seminars that are now attended by as many as 40 pastors seeking to deepen their understanding of the Bible.
- Well over 100 adults participate in these events when they are made available.
- From time to time we meet with local pastors as a group and encourage and train them further.
Church and Organization Programs
Our recent church focus has been the Kenya Faith Community Church of Ebuhayi.
- It is located a number of miles outside of Kakamega in the rural community of Ebuhayi. This area has a large non-Christian population and is reaching out to them effectively.
Now that the church has walls, doors, and lockable windows it is also serving as a training center for Literacy and the Bible.
- This program which is limited to locals only is extremely popular.

Water Programs
The “Magharbi Water Aid Project” is a new organization made up of workers that David originally trained and worked with.
- They have recently organized and have been working for others. For the LWFK they have recently completed Blessed to Bless Academy’s second well, and a well for the Shibuli Satellite Preschool.
- They are now prepared to work with LWFK on other wells.
